Day of the Deep Rivers

Today we give Thanks
to the means by which
we came to be here-

Be it a river of water
or information

On The Island
small boats are crafted from wood
to be released into the stream
to be carried to the river
to find its way to the sea

Carrying within its tiny hold
an offering-

A piece of fruit
a candle
a toy
a drawing
a poem

Aimed at that which
aimed its giver here

The Rivers
that feed The Island
twisting their fingers
through its forests and towns
reflect a mirror function
in the Rivers of information
that have delivered
each of us here

On this day
we give thanks to The Rivers
that nourish
both The Island and this board.
