The NRM Exhibit: Small Wonder

James Gurney
Small Wonder 1995

Small Wonder portrays two children at a springtime festival. The boy's costume represents the plant kingdom and
the girl carries a Triceratops hatchling. When creating this painting, James Gurney reflected upon his feelings about
the importance of nurturing the young, and his enjoyment of companionship, music, and the outdoors.
